NEBIMED 5 (Nebivolol) is a beta blocker that treats high blood pressure and heart failure. It’s generally not the go-to treatment for high blood pressure, but it may be used by itself or with other medication. NEBIMED 5 contains nebivolol 5mg tablets with nebivolol 5mg and excipients. When adrenaline stimulates your beta-1 receptors, your blood pressure rises. Nebivolol, being a selective beta-1 blocker, will decrease your blood pressure and heart contraction once it blocks the receptor. Unlike other medicines of its kind, nebivolol doesn’t harm airways (beta-2 receptors), and it also inhibits the release of aldosterone—a hormone that raises blood pressure.Take this medication orally at 5 mg per day. But consult your physician before using it. More common side effects include occasional headaches, tiredness, dizziness, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, nausea and vomiting.Rare serious side effects are difficulty breathing, chest pain and slow heartbeat.Avoid taking nevibolol with other beta blockers, cardiac glycosides (such as digoxin), calcium channel blockers (verapamil and diltiazem), artemether/lumefantrine or antidepressants like fluoxetine or paroxetine. This list isn’t exhaustive though. Make sure you disclose all medications you’re on—herbal products and supplements included—before taking nevibolol.
