LIVAMED 1 (Pitavastatin Calcium) is a statin drug that has been shown to lower cholesterol. It achieves this by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase which is the first step of cholesterol synthesis pathway. Each tablet contains pitavastatin calcium 1mg plus excipients.Pitastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme responsible for the first step in the synthesis of cholesterol. By blocking this pathway, the liver is stimulated to absorb more low density lipoprotein (LDL) from the circulation, thereby dropping their levels in the blood.
