ARIMIMED 1 (Anastrozole) is a medication used to treat breast cancer after menopause. It comes in anastrozole 1mg tablets, which have excipients and 1mg of the active ingredient; anastrozole. Anastrozole is classified as a third-generation nonsteroidal Type II aromatase inhibitor. Most breast cancers grow quickly in response to estrogen hormone levels in the body. Aromatase is an enzyme that helps produce estrogen. When the activity of aromatase is inhibited by Anastrozole it results in a lack of estrogen, this slows down or halts cancer growth completely if it’s already present. This drug has a half-life of 50 hours. Most people find that taking one tablet orally every day works best for them, but you should consult your doctor before starting this treatment.
